I really don't believe the assertion that removing transit will facilitate consensus building. Further, the nearest working model I can think of (16th Street Mall in Denver) has transit and seems to function pretty well.

Except Nicollet is where most riders going downtown need/want to go. Data shown at open houses said that! They aren’t going to Marq/2nd/3rd. Library, medical offices, Target, etc are on Nicollet.

Emphasizing the alleged need to make transit go faster “through downtown” sounds to me like they see downtown as a place to avoid (gotta move through it quickly!) rather than a destination. Moving the transit stops to a different street also says to me that Nicollet Mall is not a destination.

Jacob Frey can say all he wants about how moving buses off of Nicollet Mall will be good; but if he actually cared about transit riders and not just the Downtown Council, he'd be out on the streets listening to..................................transit riders.
