On the one hand, this place is continually dysfunctional. But on the other, we just managed to arrest, investigate, prosecute, convict and hand a pretty robust 15 year sentence to a former political leader. Which is more than some can do.

At SPA conference, Baroness Ruth Lister just described surviving the Thatcher years as maintaining “finger in the dyke” politics. I’d like to check the provenance of the phrase but I’m afraid to Google it in a professional setting.
