There's definitely a philosophical difference across the ocean on signage design. The US has long favored minimalism so the entire sign can be read quickly. Europeans assume you can find what's relevant to you and don't need to read the whole sign, so are willing to put more text up.

Has anyone actually user tested that and verified that? Or is that just the excuse for transit agency staff that don't want to put in the work to get anything beyond the bare minimum working?
