This is such a good question. The book I go back to time and again is Good Omens, which Terry Pratchett wrote by himself, whereas the book that I swoon thinking about is If On A Winter's Night A Traveller by Italo Calvino. But, if asked, I'd worry both of those looks like I'm trying too hard?
