That's why, imo, Ratio's voiceline when being added to a team with Sunday is "It's rare to run into someone with brains." Once Sunday joins the Express, I think Ratio's opinion of him also shifts away from 'what a paranoid, misguided fool' to 'good, he's finally exercising his true potential.'

Ratio isn't the kind to eternally shut the door on someone if they prove themselves willing to learn from their mistakes; I think his personal aversion to Sunday's actions aside, he sees that Sunday has a considerable amount of potential that was previously being aimed in all the wrong directions.

But I think Ratio recognizes how driven Sunday is by fear, and probably has some idea of his background. I do like that the voiceline they gave Ratio re: Sunday is so optimistic, in a sense: "Fools think themselves wise, but the wise know their own ignorance — now, he has become the latter."

I think Ratio probably scorns Sunday by the end of Penacony for clinging to his desire to seal everyone in a dream. It's both an authoritarian/paternalistic nightmare but also a very childlike wish to protect everyone from "harm" ...aka the absolute opposite of Ratio's "teach a man to fish" beliefs.

Even tho Aventurine is a foil for Ratio in a lot of ways, Aven's ability to roll with the punches + chaos is far more in line with "everything flows" (or 'you can never step in the same river twice') than Sunday's attempt at creating a utopian dream stasis, which reminds me a lot of Raiden Ei, tbh.
