That you are excluding more half of your fanbase the basic tool to understand your game. It can be perfecto, there are professionals that take care of that (look at Ace Attorney, perfect translation even tough the game is japanese). At this point is easier to say that he doesnt want to do it.

You don't want to pay a translation team because you wouldn't be able to guide them since you don't know the language. But you'd rather have fans do the translations themselves, without your supervision, leaving everyone with a version that lacks “your vision of the work.” Okay.
