I teach comics grad students, and this is a continual and necessary discussion with being a professional artist. Oftentimes the thing that is missed, however, isn't just the contradiction of monetizing our passions, it's squaring the round peg of anticapitalism in our own ethics.

Late to this but it's such a cathartic read. Artists are expected to martyr themselves for comics, and if they get a little too business savvy in a public way, they're a sellout hack tainting the purity of the medium
