A lot of bank branches have closed, businesses usually pay fees for cash handling, counting it takes time, mistakes are made and it’s just generally awkward to deal with

That started off slowly here and now it's every restaurant. It's about $3 or $4 less if you pay cash. I paid property tax online and they charged me $89 "convenience fee" for using my debit card. How else can you pay online?

Card fees are lower in the UK than the US (or most of the world outside UK/EU)
