And if I could recommend one thing, right now, for every trans person hearing the news with dread: making a plan helps. What's your medical plan in case of emergency? Who are the people you can rely on? Do you know the local and national groups who can support you? Friendship trees? Mutual aid?
Show PostI think it's vital to remember that trans rights in the UK were only won after European legal intervention, because I think that's the way it's heading again. Not to doom or scaremonger - I think we have every possibility of long term victory. But we have a lot of bumps in the road to go.
Show PostAgain, not ignoring the impact this has on gender non-conforming trans people with a mix of transition-related/sex-related characteristics: I am one! But the deliberate attempt to erase the fact that so many trans people are (in the nicest way possible) just some dude/just some lady is chilling.
Show PostAnd then I wonder about strategy of the BBC's approach, going straight for an attack on that sense of solidarity - nothing to see here ladies, nothing to concern yourself with - this isn't happening to a friend, a neighbour, someone at church - this is happening to a 'man' and a stranger.
