I would rather her "regenerate the Earth" with her money. Give it all away to scientific research on climate change and conservation and restoration effots.

when I was just getting settled in starting my phd i went to this thai restaurant that had really nice food, bit out of the way and out of my price range so I didn't go there again after getting the diploma I went to the same place. except now it's a café that only has sourdough sandwiches. sigh.

And those parents are often profiting off their estrangement. It's in their financial best interest to not only make sure that estrangement continues but to pain themselves as an innocent victim and their adult child as toxic or easily manipulated by trends.
