That NJH Times piece is legit infuriating. And this quote right here sums it up completely: “For a moment, Najya said nothing. Then she told me, “Sometimes I wish instead of always thinking about other kids, you would have thought about me. I never really got the education I wanted.”

What should be infuriating or even comment-worthy to readers isn’t that NHJ didn’t “choose” her daughter first but why so many children need to be abandoned for NHJ to save her own.

I mean the point of the essay is that, "public education failed our daughter and we should have used our money to send her to a better school." It's a hard truth aesop that individuals cannot fix the system or even improve it. Systemic problems need systemic solutions and one party is against it.
