If we don’t give Baxter a bedtime snack he screams me awake in the middle of the night by going into Penelope’s bathroom and howling until I get up. Horrible, pained guttural yowls, and then when I finally get up and stagger out of bed? He gives me a polite chirp and trots down the stairs.

This morning, I got up and got out of bed, and Kelpie hopped onto the bed, walked over to the edge, and started chittering at the remote. I turned the heat on DAMN FAST, before she could start experimenting with buttons.

And when I wake up, I tend to turn the heat on, get the bedroom up to "comfortable," and attract every cat in the house. ...the Maine Coons have been watching this process. Closely.

I have to open the front and change whether I want heat or cold, but once it's set, I can turn the unit on or off with a single button. I don't run the heat while I'm sleeping--I make my own cozy, I'm good with just my own natural furnace.
