Show Post"Salt" is one of those words with many shades of meaning. There is an obsolete sense (OED noun2) in which salt means the desire of an animal in the state of estrus. Other examples from Shax possibly ambiguous;
Show PostThe Duke says that Angelo's "salt imagination" offended Isabella's honor. So fascinating. Salt, that which adds or increases flavor, right? The OED says that in Shakespeare, "salt gives liveliness, freshness, or individual quality to a person's character, life, etc."
