@aingrosso.bsky.socialBelated update: I joined UIUC ECE as an Assistant Professor. Our lab works at the intersection of theoretical neuroscience, machine learning, and dynamical systems, with a focus on learning and spiking networks. I had to miss #COSYNE2026 for visa reasons. 1/2
Show PostI am totally pumped about this new work . "Task-trained RNNs" are a powerful and influential framework in neuroscience, but have lacked a firm theoretical footing. This work provides one, and makes direct contact with the classical theory of random RNNs: www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...
Show PostI just signed this. The rat race will end one way or another (and it needs to), let's make sure the outcome is appropriate.
Show PostI wrote about slow science many years ago dabacon.org/pontiff/2009... and what I remember most about that post was @preskill.bsky.social s comment which was “Kitaev”. May we all do science as slowly as Kitaev :)
Show PostThis was a lot of fun! From my side, it started with a technical Q: what's the relation between two-side cavity and path integrals? Turns out it's a fluctuation correction - and amazingly, this also enable the "O(N) rank" theory by @david-g-clark.bsky.social and @omarschall.bsky.social. 🤯
