Adapting doesn't unmake what you adapted from. There are things I did as a kid (like literally elementary school) that I regret, would never do again, and shaped who I am today. Changing who you are is impacted by who you were, and that remains a part of you. (Unless you get amnesia or something.)

I think this is an amazingly poignant thing to say, BUT I don't think it's very true in reality. Adapting is what makes everything in the world work/survive. The question is wether or not someone has truly adapted, which we can never know for sure.
