Say hello to our new modern fare gates! These gates are designed to improve accessibility, help deter fare evasion, and speed up entering/exiting a station. We're testing several types of gates over the next few months with the goal of eventually adding them at 150 stations across all 5 boroughs.

This is fantastic news. While the subway cannot convert entirely to OPTO overnight, banning it outright was an absurd proposal. What we need is a strategic phased plan to implement OPTO over time where it makes the most sense, with a focus on improving service first and foremost
