Henry VIII was born OTD in 1491. The 2nd son of Henry VII and Elizabeth of York. Probably the most famous King of England, Henry is best remembered for marrying six wives, beheading two of them, and for establishing the Church of England.
Show PostHenry VIII married his fifth wife Catherine Howard on this day in 1540. The bride was likely 17 years old; the groom was 49. Catherine was a cousin of Anne Boleyn and met the same fate - she was beheaded for adultery in 1542.
