Reading “Everything Must Go: The Stories We Tell About the End of the World” by Dorian Lynskey. In the 80s, I grew up knowing the world could end at any moment (as Alphaville sang, “are they going to drop the bomb or not?”), so this intellectual and social history is pure, well-written catnip to me.
