That mRNA-as-regulatory catalyst paper is not just "one weird bug does it sometimes". This is Arabidopsis, one of the most-studied model organisms. It's 600+ genes. Remember those pathway diagrams jammed with molecules & arrows? Biochemistry or gene regulation? This paper says: NOT ENOUGH ARROWS.
