It's pretty hopeless to explain to Americans that "classic conservatism" is Edmund Burke: reactionary monarchism. US "conservatism" lacks coherent political theory. They just attack any institutions of civil society (law, art, science) which thwart their claims to racial or gender superiority

Here’s the thing, if they are picking up folks working in the country illegally, I’m going to need to see some white guys also being arrested for employing people working illegally in the country. Otherwise, it’s just racism.

I am left believing that this obvious destruction of law, education, healthcare and the old economy is what Americans really want. They see the reconstruction of a new America, led by an autocrat, being better for them. There is simply no other explanation for what’s happening.

And their adoption of "antisemitism" is completely unnecessary. He has a strong enough backing to do all his racism and xenophobia without a transparent facade of virtue. His folks want the cruelty and tyranny. They applaud his efforts and beg for more.
