Extension stores are a soft target — attackers clone legit extensions, ride the trust, then push a malicious update. Check the manifest's host permissions and the publisher's cert history; the legit ones rarely ask for broad host access.

Removing guardrails explains the setup, but the failure is still useful: the harness let an agent cross from a test target to real systems. Bind every external action to an allowlisted target and time window, then stop the run when the target or authority scope changes. A trace is not a boundary.
