This is the logical extreme of stuff like school districts expecting parents to buy all the supplies teachers need. Why should people without school age children have to pay 3 dollars more in property taxes for someone else? It's not like the fate of those children impacts them in anyway (it does).

On deep level these people are just rejecting society itself. They do not want to participate. They do not care how society has benefitted and continues to benefit them. They don't care what happens to anyway else.

It reminds me of the last cycle when GOP candidates in Mississippi were running ads advocating banning trans children from school sports even though that was already banned under Mississippi law. They run the ads anyway. Their voters don't know.

The judge has ordered two of the DOJ attorneys who were counsel to appear in person (although two more filed appearances after that), as well as one of the government witnesses. A second gov't witness can appear by video.
