*my original thread reacted to a now deleted post. Hopefully the above post explains to non-LGBTQ ppl why the BBC wording is a transphobic slur. It’s also worth noting how much 1980s & 90s homophobic slurs are recycled to use against trans ppl.

And yes, the BBC are fully aware that LGBTQ ppl consider their wording a slur. They choose to be offensive. They could use the ‘assigned male at birth’ if they feel they need to. It’s clear & it’s factual. It’s not a slur. One might hope that the BBC would promote science, but here we are.

That’s such violent wording. The country’s public service broadcaster is openly using fascist rhetoric to describe trans people. And if you think this will stop at trans ppl you are wrong.
