And tbf White trans men/mascs ALSO need to examine the other side of that structure: how proximity to masculinity can become proximity to White male entitlement, how Black trans men are treated as stereotype, and how "we’re both trans men" erases racial differences in how our masculinities exist.
Show PostWilder is how many stereotypes about Black men are applied to Black women because they’re not allowed to be seen as women—and there isn’t a single form of transmisogyny that isn’t rooted in misogynoir. So anti-Black transmisandry combines transphobia with racism unique to Black men AND Black women.
Show PostWhite femininity also has a LONG history of being constructed through vulnerability to racialized men. Transition does not automatically absolve someone from that script, so a White trans femme can genuinely experience transmisogyny while ALSO reproducing the same harmful Black sexual stereotypes.
Show PostWhite trans femmes can desire Black masculinity, wield Whiteness against those embodying it, disavow their own racial power and retreat into transmisogyny discourse when their racial power is named in ways White trans men/mascs can't—like how White cis men tears aren't the same as White cis women's.
Show Postrecently ive seen posts/group chats with fears of losing access to hrt, solidarity with intersex folk around shared misconceptions, transphobic laws, work discrimination, and being fetishized by cisfolk—all framed as unique to trans femmes… …as if trans mascs don’t experience/suffer from them too.
