Love the sub head - "Simple" model involves find (sic) stories readers are actually interested in. I think the other factor not mentioned in the article is the decline of the traditional London papers like the Standard while there still existed an appetite for local news.

The students I'm currently teaching (late teens) are all watching, and one of them said how the viewing figures are like how 'it used to be'. They held off from saying 'in the olden days'!
