Oshiroi Baba, or Face Powder Hag, is a Japanese mountain spirit in the form of a hunched old woman with a wrinkled face smeared in makeup, carrying a sake bottle. She appears to those lost in the mountains during blizzards & gives them hot sake. #MythologyMonday

A Jorōgumo is a type of yōkai, a creature of Japanese folklore. It is basically a spider woman that can shift it's shape and preys on men. It originates from a very old orb spider. The origin of this myth is really interesting. It's well worth reading. #creatuanary #creatuanary2025 #yokai #jorogumo
