As the poem that starts this thread hints at, Yoshimasa designed his villa with moon-viewing in mind. It may well have been the moonlight reflected from the pond onto the black lacquered walls of the Kannon-den that gave birth to the name 'Ginkaku' (銀閣), the 'Silver Pavilion'.
