TL;DR: A new hacker going by Hasanbr0ker has come forward to claim leadership of the ShinyHunters group after the arrest of its previous leader, Rey, in Jordan. However, security researchers don't believe the claims, citing the lack of secure signing key material.

This story has the energy of some apocryphal tale from the early aughts but then you see the post dates and realize it's from 2019. And these "design decisions" were likely made only a couple of years prior to the post. Less than a decade removed from load-bearing 500TB Dropbox.
