The forecasted heat for the next few days is unprecedented for this time of year - looking at a multi-model ensemble suite for Reading shows five consecutive days pushing above the 90th percentile for their respective dates, unprecedented in the 118 years of observations.

It had to happen at some point but after some extensive warmer high pressure influence middle of next week. It does look increasingly towards next weekend we see raw easterlies develop. Not cold enough for wintry conditions so quite bleak. Only bonus it won’t be wet. But cloud and nagging wind.

Snow is being reported at some places in the SW as this colder airmass has been introduced overnight - nice SYNOP from Liscombe showing 'Heavy snow' from a passing shower.

A reduction in spread seems to indicate that a colder spell of weather is likely to occur around the 12th, followed by a fairly quick bounce back to milder weather not long afterwards. A colder/drier weekend coming up before a return to milder and more unsettled conditions.
