It is my understanding that this is how the Reds won the Russian Civil War. The Whites were proto-fascists, and actively alianated the civilians through their brutality and cruelty; so even non-radicalized people turned on them.

It annoys the hell out of me, but the wars in Ukraine & Iran has made it clear that pursuing nuclear arms is objectively the right path for sovereignity. If there had been nukes in more hands, so much bloodshed & destruction would have been avoided.
