Show PostTotally agree as solid base, but care should be taken to avoid forcing students to think there is a 'right' way to begin. Apologies for lack of clarity in 2nd example. (1/2)x + 2/3 = 1/6 Multiply the whole equation by 6 as an example of a good first move. Admittedly unlikely to feature at y7.
Show PostI agree it's logical, but still feels like it would create barriers to fluency/flexibility to me. What about something like 123x + 246 = 369? Or 1/2x + 2/3 = 1/6?
Show PostI’m pretty sure my kid’s school got @draustinmaths.com to design their packed lunch ideas.
Show PostMaybe. You might prefer Imperial wherever you are in the UK. I still think two is a bit low for such impressive results. I’m thinking maybe they have been well drilled to pass A levels but less well prepared for entrance tests and/or interviews.
