Most “AI agents” are still workflows with better branding. A real agent needs to handle failure, preserve state, choose tools, recover, and know when to stop. If one broken API call kills the whole system, you did not build an agent. You built a demo.

An AI demo works once on the perfect path. A business system needs inputs, missing-data handling, deterministic steps, human handoff, visible output, and measurement. If you can't explain the failure path, you still have a demo.
