Paddle-to-the-Sea was a children's book written by Holling C. Holling and published in 1941. Set in Ontario, it followed a wooden model of a First Nations man in a canoe released into Great Lakes so it can eventually reach the ocean. 🧵2/10

While in Iceland this weekend I saw something I’d never seen before: towering walls of white spray pulled from the ocean surface by gale force winds and carried for miles over the land like ghosts. These are called særok in Icelandic.
