At this point there are a lot of academics whose work I've come to know, learn from, and appreciate via social media over the course of almost two decades. I don't understand the sentiment that it's tacky to want one's academic research read. It's supposed to be read. 4/

Almost everybody thinks we're in a time of drastic decline, decay, and failure. Almost everybody is wrong. But nobody wants to bear the cost of saying so. People will call you naïve, and you won't seem like an ally to your partisan friends, in whatever party.
