This is demonstrably, measurably improving the health of the people who live there. Most notably, it increases the respiratory *& cognitive* health of children. They literally do better in school. If this country really gave a shit about children, this would be at the top of the public-policy list.

The @economist.com slam on Daron Acemoglu chooses to cite Noah Smith and Tyler Cowen and Larry Summers as critics of his work and well, that tells me quite a lot of what I need to know about the merits of the piece. A very odd choice of article and weakly argued and written. Ah well...
