Many, many people focus their understanding of transphobia on cis women and cis women’s movements, such as TERFs, GCs, or anxiety around “female spaces.” To the point that cis female gender anxiety gets blamed for the entirety of transphobia. I do not like this! It is misleading and it is misogyny.

Not to say everyone who gets on board with this view is a misogynist, but misogyny is a big part of what shapes the prevalence of this illusion. It’s not hard to see characterizations of transphobia more broadly as primarily about “protecting women.”
