5. One last top-of-mind argument is that some animals are kosher according to the Torah but can’t ever be eaten because we don’t know they’re kosher anymore—we lost track of which animal the word means. But I’d say that status follows halakha, not ‘true’ nature—at least in rabbinic Judaism.
Show Post4. You could conceivably have kosher animals that are impossible to eat due to bal tishaktzu—don’t be gross—but since grossness is culturally specific, it’s doubtful that any of them would be gross everywhere. So eating them would just entail travelling.
