NERDY PARKING STUFF: A few years ago CMs Christina Henderson and Brooke Pinto suggested that D.C. replace the existing ward-based residential parking zones with more smaller ones. Well, a new report from D.C.'s in-house think tank says smaller zones wouldn't really help with parking issues.

The report does find that D.C. could make some changes to ease issues with residential parking, but many of those changes should be much more targeted to specific neighborhoods and don't have to cover entire wards or the city. Report: lims.dccouncil.gov/downloads/LI...

On this date in 1938, the design for DC's state flag was selected. It was based on George Washington's coat-of-arms. In an informal flag poll, vexillologists love it. Tattoo artists th ink it's great.

Very exciting to see both Chicago (assets.metra.com/s3fs-public/...) & Philly (wwww.septa.org/initiatives/...) developing plans for all-day, two-way, frequent service on their commuter rail lines.
