Serious question: has it always been like this? Did social media just make these kinds of attitudes easier to express, or did social media enhance the parasocial relationship to the point where it's now commonplace to treat artists like vending machines? Bc it's not only gaming let's just say that.

I think this attitude has always existed to some extent. But social media has made it easier for peopke band together and spout nonsense in all areas. Moreover, humanity as a whole is increasingly losing the ability to form or understand complex thoughts.

Ecactly that. There's practically nothing for young people in my city. The skate park is heavily regulated, people complain about the graffiti, the youth center has had massive funding cuts, and people also dont want them to use parks or swimming pools
