totally valid. I think even if you start down the path of career growth it would at least give you an idea of what ur future could hold, what to look for, and some expereince, even if you choose to bow out before it's through. They can't make you stay, they'll find someone else, it happens.

growing ur carrer now isn't putting down roots imo. You're gaining valuable experience and probably increasing your $. You can use the money to save for a move to a place u want to be and the experience pads your resume and allows you to apply for more when it's time to move on.

is the promotion based on some kind of time commitment? Bc in theory taking a new position does not mean you’re beholden to it forever (or any long period of time). I say get the bigger bag while you can and continue to plan for future moves
