Yes! When my husband took his first pastoral position at an SBC church in rural Texas, he was "pounded." We benefited for years (!) from the canned goods and other staples they gave him. It's a lovely tradition.

When a new pastor came to the church, they would be "pounded" as a way to help them set up their household. It was also a way for churches to compensate the pastor when they couldn't pay money but had farm products. anyway some of y'all need sanctification
Show PostA bunch of people on this website have their minds in the gutter and have no clue about Culture, by which I mean Southern culture. Yes, "Pounding" is a thing people do for a pastor, and the phrase goes back to when folks would bring a pound of flour or butter etc as a gift.
