Very cool stuff, though my instinct is that the sword there looks like a bearing sword - a oversized sword used as a ceremonial object and never intended for use in a fight. Still really cool (but important not to let bearing swords color our sense of what real battlefield weapons were like).

I think there's an incredible film to be made about Imphal, with British & Indian units squeezed together in a few hundred square meters of hell, defending against fascist invaders, at a moment India clearly knows it's going to be free after the war, if it could bring out all the complexity.
