He's an idiot, sure, but when has he ever not been pro-Russia? It's not like he needs to be fed any stories or lies to think highly of Putin or Russia. He's been like this in his first term already.

He appears detached from reality on several levels in this post, geographically, temporally, politically, economically. We should also not forget that apparently he talks regularly with Putin. So this isn't just people in his administration, he's also getting misinfo from his handler.

Of course it seems like that Trump's desperate fury here is the result of people telling him (correctly) that fuel prices are going to lead his party to lose badly in the election, but of course he cannot take the ego-implications of that being his fault, so he rages like a gamer on tilt.

I suspect the reality here is that a lot of people in Trump's orbit are pro-Putin either for ideological reasons or because they want to protect potential business interests in Russia and so they're feeding him this idea that Zelensky is the obstacle to peace, which works, cause Trump's an idiot.
