Our new paper: Juvenile zebra mussels settle on aquatic plants in large numbers. When plants senesce, the mussels will migrate across sediments to other substrates such as live unionid mussels, adding to the biofouling caused by settling larvae. Link to pre-print: cdnsciencepub.com/doi/10.1139/...

Former and current staff at Ontario’s Ministry of Environment tell @fatimabsyed.bsky.social and @leahbortskuperman.bsky.social that Bill 5, and the death of the Endangered Species Act, left them powerless in protecting at-risk species. “We were essentially silenced.”
