@nataliaadhd.bsky.socialVery little, thanks for asking 😆
Show PostOh, I think I would absolutely respond in kind to that. 'yes. I literally live with it affecting my day to day life. That's how it works. I didn't fully process what you said, would you repeat it please?' Cont.
Show PostIf they refuse/continue to joke instead of repeating themselves, 'I'm sorry to spoil your fun but I still don't know what you said to me. If it's important, you might want to just say it again. If it's not, don't bother I guess.' I.e. it's not your problem if they don't care to communicate Cont.
Show PostTo interrupt their script is a disruption and they may feel a little ruffled. But what was their intention? To ruffle yours? To bully you into not needing a reasonable adjustment? There's no rule that says you have to be the uncomfortable one. Let them learn! It's not rude or unkind.
Show PostIf that feels far too confrontational, then think about tone. A light 'well, yes. But I still didn't understand you' is fine. Also drops the hilarity out of the joke. Also, can I ask... Are you sure they are joking? Or are they actually being rude? Their intentions matter so you could even ask.
