I pay taxes for schools despite not having kids because I live in a society. The retired people who don't want to pay property taxes are weird. They still use roads and other public services. But the US is a deeply individualistic society run by Republicans hyper-focused on exclusionary policies.

We disagree on that. I may have agreed with you 2 years ago but the substantial movement we are seeing this election cycle, compounded heavily at the state level, does not portend well for the next two years. And I talk about it specifically because I want to stop it, and I think we can.

But one has to at least acknowledge movement, in some instances very substantial movement, among some factions of Dems that are capable of taking at least state level power, towards harming trans people.

While we may not be there at the congressional level yet, the only way we will prevent it is by preventing those who seek to run on it from infecting the party. I say this as someone who wants Dems to win and whose wife is a Dem, so I’m not saying burn down all Dems or anything.
