Meanwhile on Threads, someone is warming up a bot brigade attack on my book. So far it’s low-follower fake accounts repeating the same AI-generated scripts, expressing mild disappointment in my (highly-reviewed NYT-bestselling) book. Pretty low budget attack (mildly disappointed bots) so far. 🍿

They’re heeeeere. The bot swarm has arrived on BlueSky. Beware anonymous/fake name accounts (many of them created recently) posting defamatory attacks. Remember: bots seek engagement. Never argue/engage with them. Report/block to isolate and disrupt the strategy. @moderation.bsky.app

Some of the bots are focused on amplifying a defamation campaign by a notorious social media troll with a long history of such attacks on journalists. It started the day my book deal was announced in April 2025, and others who write on this topic have also been targeted with similar attacks.

Whenever I catch a glimpse, it’s some fake blue check telling a longwinded AI-generated story (that’s not true) to bait engagement. And people dumbly calling out the scam as if no one understands how algorithms work in the Year of Our Lord 2026.
