4. I talked today with someone who left ASA because it became too "activist," and watched people stage a walkout & disruption of the presidential address for essentially the opposite reason, and I am sad and frustrated about the divides in sociology. And I see them mirrored in so many settings.

The whole boycotting Israeli "institutions" resolution & fallout. You poked the bear so the PG version of my rant (which is adjacent to debate on whether the resolution should be voted on) is that the refrain that it "targets institutions, not individuals" is a farce & insults our intelligence.
