but... the Pokewalker was the same gen. No bucket, but following arguably was more meaningful than ever before. Mechanically you were rewarded with levels and items and it told a little story every time you returned. Way deeper than the Pocket Pikachu

If an rpg adds an auto battle feature I always felt like its failed from the get go. It's admitting that the combat is so boring or poorly balanced that it requires a button to skip it.
