Fireside now sends real-time feed notifications via Podping and WebSub. I think this was the last piece of our podcast standards implementation (podstandards.org). Apps in the Podcast Index ecosystem now get notified instantly. Nice little Thursday ship. Of course I httparty'd the whole time. 🎉

Ok, reading the public text closely, you can see that Apple is not hosting the HLS video, but relying on the (partner) hosting company to do that. Apple just takes part in the monetization. The hosting company will determine supported video formats/features podcasters.apple.com/support/5593...

This obviously only works for videos already making money. Interested to see if there is a story for everything else (think religious/educational). Perhaps a "I swear there is no promotion in this" checkbox... Right now they need to use the old separate feed, file-based (mp4 etc) approach, no HLS

now might be a good time to remind folks that op3.dev supports HLS... Just add the prefix to the HLS url (m3u8) file you send to Apple! from: https ://path/to/master.m3u8 to: https ://op3.dev/e/path/to/master.m3u8
